AKB48’s Shimazaki Haruka, known by fans as Paruru, has announced her graduation from the group.

The announcement was done at a recent press conference where she announced her intention to focus on becoming an actress and doing voice acting for a Ghibli anime.

Her graduation concert is set for December 26th, with her last hand shake event being held on December 24th.

She confirmed the information on Twitter:

While shocking to some, the recent announcement of her as center for AKB48’s latest single seemed to confirm that something was up. With rumors circling that she was already planning her graduation, it would have made the perfect goodbye seeing her as center for one last time and it’s glad to see that she has finally confirmed the inevitable.

It’s sad of course to see her leave, but the fact that she already has plans for the future to remain in the public eye is the comforting part. Of course, there was some negativity surrounding her being center for AKB48’s latest single but she will at least be able to enjoy a chance to shine once more.

Best of luck Paruru, we’ll keep on supporting you!
