AKB48 Is Going Global For Their Next Senbatsu

Update: The results for the 53rd senbatsu are now available

AKB48 has announced that they will be holding a world senbatsu election titled The 10th AKB48 World Senbatsu Sousenkyou.

Fans who buy AKB48’s 52nd single will be able to vote for their favorite members from AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48, and STU48. However, for their 53rd single fans will be also be able to vote for AKB48’s overseas sister groups. These include JKT48 (Indonesia), BNK48 (Thailand), and TPE48 (Taiwan).

Due to the large amount of members participating in the senbatsu, 20 new spots have been added to the ranking. The full list of rankings include:

1st to 16th – World Senbatsu
17th to 32nd – Under Girls
33rd to 48th – Next Girls
49th to 64th – Future Girls
65th to 80th – Upcoming Girls
81st to 100th – 10th AKB48 World Senbatsu Sousenkyou Kinen Waku

Voting for this worldwide senbatsu will start when AKB48’s 52nd single will be released on May 30th and will continue until June 15th.

It’s pretty exciting to see that AKB48 will again allow members from overseas groups to participate in this senbatsu since it opens the doors for anyone to show their talent. If you’re planning on participating make sure to keep members from JKT48, BNK48, and TPE48 in mind!
