Up-Front has revealed more information about 2 new groups they have planned for debut this summer.
These 2 new groups will feature Hello! Kenkyuusei members Ichioka Reina, Kiyono Momohime, and Takase Kurumi.
Ichioka Reina will be the leader of a new, currently untitled, group. This group will focus more on performances where they will sing, dance, and use a variety of physical expressions.
The other new, untitled group will feature Takase Kurumi and Kiyono Momohime. This group will have a different theme compared to Reina’s group, instead going for a small theater troupe image. They will use elements of comedy and perform with song and dance.
Both of these groups will have auditions that will begin in April, where applications will be open to Kenkyuusei and other applicants. However, there will be an emphasis on having a special skill or talent in order to join. There are also plans to have the two groups perform together at times.
Their activities will begin sometime between summer and autumn of this year.
This is pretty interesting simply because of how much Up-Front mentions that the groups will not be normal idols. Instead, they seem to be trying to spread more into theater and other performances.
For now, we don’t have much info but it’s enough to get Up-Front fans interested in this spin on conventional idols. Stay tuned for more details!
