AKB48 44th Single Coupling MVs Released

AKb48 Set Me Free MV

AKB48 has released the MV for Team A’s Set me free, Team K’s Aishuu no Trumpet, Team B’s Koi wo Suru to Baka wo Miru, Team 4’s Kangaeuro Hito, and Team 8’s Yume e no Route.

The tracks are part of AKB48’s upcoming single titled Tsubasa wa Iranai which will be releasing June 1st.

The track list for Tsubasa wa Iranai was released previously.

It’s a good day to be an AKB48 fan! Shortly after we got to see the MV for the title track we now get to enjoy the MVs for the b-sides and they are all interesting in their own ways.

Team A “Set me free”

How many idols can you fit on a fashion runway? Several apparently, all while singing a catchy and mature sounding song with a trumpet led instrumental. The fashion show setting reminds me of Morning Musume’s Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai, but it’s fun and matches the feel perfectly.

Team K “Aishuu no Trumpet”

As the name implies, there’s a heavy trumpet sound to accompany the vocals of the members as they sing to the fun beat. Visually the flower theme is catchy and fits the spring feel nicely which makes for a standout song.

Team B “Koi wo Suru to Baka wo Miru”

It’s a dream come true as we get to see the members in a dreamy pink Japanese bathhouse setting. Surprisingly, the entire MV has Japanese references all over the place, with the members carrying a mikoshi as they sing and a taiko drum on the side.

Team 4’s “Kangaeuro Hito”

Kangaeuro Hito has a cool theme, with shots of the members dancing and singing in separate windows on a computer desktop. It’s a fun way to show off the catchy ballad feel of the song with colorful visuals.

Team 8’s “Yume e no Route”

With classic and catchy happy idol sound, Yume e no Route shows of the members running to the beat of the song. It’s a nice song, and the fact that they dressed up as cheerleaders during the dance shot was a bonus. It’s calm, but catchy and rounds out the single nicely.

Overall all of the songs were a tad too calm for my taste, but there is enough variety to make up for it as we get to see the members try out different styles to set each song apart.

This single is promising to be a treat, so make sure to get your copy since it’s going to be a solid release for AKB48!
