Nautical idol (nautidol?) group STU48 have announced that two members have already been announced for their lineup.
These members include HKT48’s Sashihara Rino and AKB48’s Okada Nana who will both hold concurrent positions within the group, meaning that they will remain members of their current groups while also being part of STU48.
Sashihara Rino will hold the position of Theater Manager while Okada Nana will serve as the Captain.
STU48 sets itself apart from the other AKB48 groups due to it being based at sea on a ship. That by itself is a feat on its own, but thankfully it seems like the new recruits will have some help getting used to their new idol role alongside two veteran members.
Currently, from the 8,061 applications that have been received, 347 candidates passed the 1st round, while only 63 passed the 2nd round. There is still a final review that will determine the final set of members that will join Rino and Nana.
Since they’re still awaiting final review we do have some time to wait before we find out the final lineup. But, I look forward to finding out just who will form part of the group by the time the ship sets sail.
