Hiragana Keyakizaka46 have announced that they will be changing their group name to Hinatazaka46.
The announcement was done during a SHOWROOM stream. There they announced that they would also be releasing a new single on March 27th. A new website and Twitter account has been announced as well, with some lives planned at Yokohama Arena on March 5th and 6th.
The reason for the change is due to the name similarity between their sister group Keyakizaka46 and fans getting the names confused. This change is welcome since it makes it easier to set the two apart and helps Hinatazaka46 set themselves apart as a group without relying on the Keyakizaka46 name for success. Sure, Keyakizaka46 flows off the tongue nicely but Hinatazaka46 has a nice, strong punch to it.
Not much else will change apart from the name so fans are simply being given an easier way to distinguish the 2 groups, which is always welcome. For now, I encourage everyone to keep on supporting the newly named Hinatazaka46!
