A new year is finally upon us and with it comes the 1st Shuukan Idol of the year. Thank you for your support throughout the year! 2016 was packed with amazing idol and J-pop releases and 2017 looks to be as equally amazing, if not even better (as evidenced by the picture above of Ayuni D).
We had a rather eventful week packed with news about BiSH, Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da, Hello! Project, and more. So without any more wait, here are our top 6 highlights of the week!
Best of 2016
As some might have noticed, we just published our Best Idol/Jpop MVs of 2016 so if you haven’t had a chance to check it out please make sure to do so by clicking below:
It took quite some time to refine and there were multiple changes throughout the week (mainly because I got too excited and wrote too much at first), but I’m pretty happy with the list and the groups we got a chance to highlight.
If you have any suggestions or MVs you’d like to share please feel free to do so in that post! I want to make sure that everyone gets a chance to share their opinion.
Excuse the bear pun, but when we have new BiSH songs to enjoy it’s always a great day. Not many details are known, but the few we know are certainly interesting. For example, there’s a giant plastic bear edition. Check it out.
If you ever had any doubts that the girls over at The World Standard love cats, then hopefully this latest MV can convince you otherwise. Packed full of time traveling cat idols, it’s certainly a treat for those who love upbeat releases.
While the title might be more symbolic than anything else, we finally get the confirmation of who will be the next H!P leader. Congratulations!
New year resolutions usually include getting in shape, perhaps getting that dream job. But, if you’re a member of Bandjanaimon! it means that you are in for a packed year with 3 singles, an album, multiple one man performances, and more. It’s safe to say that they are in for quite the ride and fans are sure to be delighted.
With the departure of Asa and Gomochi, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da were unfortunately a bit limited in terms of members. Thankfully we finally have confirmation that a new member has joined the group and she is … something else.
While Asa might be long gone, Gomochi stayed as part of the group for a proper goodbye until December 30th. Thankfully she was able to be part of a final MV before her departure and it’s a must see for fans of the upbeat variety. Stick around until the end since there is a heartwarming goodbye for her!
The new site name is almost decided upon. There are a few more variations I’d like to sleep on before finally deciding, but when that is decided I will go ahead and set up a poll on Twitter for opinions.
Ensuring that we have a new site name that reflects the various idol groups we cover is essential so I want to make sure that I give it enough thought. Also, we want to make sure that all of you who read our posts are happy with the new site name since after all you keep us motivated to continue.
Of course, if you have any suggestions we are always open to reading them please feel free to send them to us from the Contact Us page or simply comment below.
Not many proper MV releases were planned, which makes sense seeing as how Japan is big into New Years and taking the time to prepare for the coming year. But, we did get plenty of treats including a live MV for Koutei Camera Girl Zwei and their track Lonely lonely Montreal.
Mainly featuring scenes of them performing the track live, we also get a few scenes of them rehearsing. This all makes for a rather emotional release for the group since we get to see them as they sing their hearts out.
It’s sad that the group will be disbanding soon, but at least we get to enjoy them as they pour their souls into their latest release for fans to enjoy.
Their final performance is scheduled for January 13th, so make sure to check them out while you can!
Koutei Camera Girl – Lonely lonely Montreal
The track is part of their 3rd album, which doesn’t seem to be available on CDJapan (unless you order it through their alternate method), however if you are able to track it down I strongly recommend you get it since it’s certainly a perfect goodbye for this group.
That’s it for this week, make sure to stay tuned in for the next one!
