Shuukan Idol – Tokyo Girl Edition

Nakajima Saki

In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we get a surprise graduation from within NMB48, new MVs for Perfume, Country Girls, and Niji no Conquistador, as well as a surprise group disbandment.

That and more in our top 6 highlights of the week!

Country Girls dance in a garage for the Good Boy Bad Girl MV

Expectations are high as Country Girls release the final MV to feature Tsugunaga Momoko, and thankfully it seems like fans of this idol group are sure to be pleased. Taking place in a garage, the song is mainly a conversation between a couple as members act out the scenes. It’s cute, catchy, and is the perfect send off for Momo.

Perfume ride an elevator up a tower in the MV for TOKYO GIRL

Perfume are incredibly talented, but their most recent MV for TOKYO GIRL is an interesting one. In it we get to see them ride an elevator up a tower while masses of fans run towards them holding strange glowing pyramids. Why? I’m not sure. It might be a weird setting, but one that is worth checking out.

NMB48’s Fujie Reina announces graduation

Seeing an idol grow as a performer and reach her dreams is an amazing feeling for fans who supported her. But there comes a time when they have to leave the idol life and continue their normal lives. Fujie Reina has done just that, announcing her intention to graduate from the group after 10 years.

Niji no Conquistador battle funky zombies in the MV for † No Life Baby・Of・The・End †

When you see a zombie you run away, that’s a pretty normal reaction. If you’re Nijicon though, you not only fight them with guns and rocket launchers, but also tie them up and eat delicious food around them. It’s a zombie wota’s dream, and an MV that’s worth checking out.

UP UP GIRLS announce finalists for their 2nd generation

It has been some time since we last heard of Up Up Girls looking for more members, and the time has come to finally meet the finalists that could soon turn into members. However, it’s not only them who get to choose, fans can get in on the fun as well.

Rev.from DVL announce disbandment

Being an idol is often not a lifetime affair, with members often leaving when they turn 20 and start planning out the rest of their lives. Rev.from DVL have chosen to not only plan out their futures, but disband the group in order to do so. Check out the post for full details.

Notable mentions:

This week we have P.IDL, an idol group that not only has a cool name but also some of the catchiest upbeat songs you’ve ever heard.

Their latest release titled Aitai addicted is packed of color and overexcited idols for you to enjoy. Paired with a rock styled instrumental, there are many fun scenes where the members dance in various colorful rooms with balloons, confetti, and jean jackets which help make it a unique release.

Also there’s a scene where someone rides a toy horse and gets spanked with a bat, so that’s a thing.

If you want to support them make sure to check out their releases on CDJapan:

That’s it for this week, stay tuned in for the next one!
