AKB48 have released all of the coupling MVs for their 53rd single titled Sentimental Train.
Out September 19th, the single will be released in 10 editions.
Sandal ja Dekinai Koi
AKB48 – Under Girls
With a name like Sandal ja Dekinai Koi, you wouldn’t expect to hear a salsa inspired instrumental. However, that’s exactly what we get in this MV and it’s a treat. The trumpets and vibrant piano play through the many scenes of the members as they dance in blue dresses.
Need a more artistic touch? Well, there are also scenes of the members as they relax in a dimly lit room full of flowers and plants. The broken down feel of these scenes are rather impressive and make for a visual treat. Yes, they don’t go well with the upbeat music but hey, it works in a way.
Tomodachi ja nai ka?
AKB48 – Next Girls / Type A Exclusive
Bowling alleys are something you don’t see that often in idol MVs, but that’s about to change with the release of Tomodachi ja nai ka? In it we get to see half the members wear slick suits while the rest wear cute dresses and colorful accessories in a 60s style.
Not much bowling happens, but we do get to see the members as they dance together in the lanes. The song isn’t too unique, going for a slow ballad sound, but it’s a nice addition nonetheless. It’s unknown if this is how bowling works though, but I’m sure fans would be completely fine seeing AKB48 members dance at their bowling alley.
Aru Hi Fui ni …
AKB48 – Future Girls / Type B Exclusive
Ready to burn your eyes with the color pink? The MV for Aru Hi Fui ni … packs in a variety of scenes, with the vibrant addition of pink being one of the most impressive. But, we also get to see the members as they try and make some stuffed animals float using balloons. Is there a story? Not at all, but it is pretty adorable to see them celebrate when they do get one to float. Plus, we get to see someone slap a stuffed cow for not floating.
All of this makes for fun visuals as we get to see the members sing along to a slightly disco inspired ballad that plays throughout. So far, this is one of my favorite songs simply because of how unique it sounds compared to the rest of the single.
Hitonatsu no Dekigoto
AKB48 – Upcoming Girls / Type C Exclusive
After all that color we need to give our eyes a break and the MV for Hitonatsu no Dekigoto is perfect for that. The music is slow and has a lullaby feel to it at times, which goes well with the scenes of the members as they spend some time out in a forest hanging up lights and smiling while wearing white dresses.
The brightly lit scenes of them going about their days is simply amazing. There’s a heavenly glow that comes from many of the day scenes, with the night shots having just the right amount of lighting thanks to the soft lights used in the background. This is by far the most impressive MV I’ve seen for this single and a good contender for best overall.
Nami ga Tsutaeru Mono
AKB48 / Type D Exclusive
Festivals are always packed full of fun, and that’s exactly what we get to see in this MV. From the start to the end, we get to see scenes of the members wearing kimonos and writing wishes down. However, the MV has a story and unfortunately it’s somewhat short so we don’t get to see too much of it.
As for the song, it’s a nice addition to the single. Yes, it’s not the most impressive but it manages to hold its own and fit in perfectly with the many old fashioned scenes that play. It’s good to note that this MV was made specifically for Youtube, so there might be a few changes in the single release.
That being said, this batch of MVs was overall impressive. They each have their own theme and manage to up the level of what fans expect from AKB48. Hitonatsu no Dekigoto and Sandal ja Dekinai Koi both stood out because of their impressive visuals, but Aru Hi Fui ni … was my favorite when it comes to songs.
That being said, make sure to check out all of them above and grab a copy of the single below because we are getting close to the release date!
