Shuukan Idol – C-ute MV Special, and More

In this week’s Shuukan Idol we get not one, but two MVs for C-ute’s upcoming single! Alongside some graduation announcements, MVs from Juice=Juice, PASSPO, and some surprising news about a 2D idol group.

That and more in our top 6 highlights of the week!

Nanami Hashimoto to graduate from Nogizaka46, retire from entertainment

Idols tend to graduate from groups to become actresses, go solo, or even just to complete their education. But, it’s rare to see a member outright admit that they just want to be a normal person once more. Best of luck Nanami!

> C-ute unleash two fun MVs for their tracks Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~ and Ai wa Maru de Seidenki

Does static electricity mix with idols? How devoid of color can an MV be? C-ute answer both questions in the final two MVs for their upcoming single. Solid songs, and the perfect way to round out an epic single alongside Mugen Climax.

PASSPO☆ become a family in the MVs for Gimme Gimme action and Love Refrain

Nothing says the holidays are near like the first of several holiday-themed releases from idol groups, and PASSPO have shown off one of the most unique settings. What if you dress up every member like they’re part of a family for a fun, upbeat rock MV? Add some infedility in and you have a solid single release.

Yumemiru Adolescence’s Kobayashi Rei to be in indefinite hiatus

Idol singers have to endure multiple performances during a tour, and not surprisingly it takes a toll on the body. Rei is the latest victim, undergoing treatment for polyps on her vocal cords. Get well soon Rei!

Juice=Juice don’t procrastinate in the MV for their single Asu Yarou wa Bakayarou!

Right off the bat, yes it’s not the best song they have done but it’s still a solid, funky release that showcases the members doing what we all love to do: procrastinate.

I’ll think of a better introduction later …

Yasushi Akimoto likes money, announces plans to launch a 2D/3D idol group

Has Akimoto ran out of real girls for his multiple groups? Will we all end up in an Akimoto group eventually at this pace (dibs on KME48)? Time will tell, but for now it’s certainly an interesting announcement.

Namie Amuro is on the forefront of J-pop, with her music being known among millions of fans worldwide. While this week was packed with news (and some personal events that made me unable to post about her in time), I can’t go without giving her the attention she deserves with her latest MV.

Dear Diary is a ballad, but in comparison to her other releases we get to see a visually striking MV. Packed full of story-like elements, it’s no surprise to see that she has been going strong for so long with solid releases.

This track will be part of her 44th single titled Dear Diary / Fighter which will be out on October 26th, so make sure to grab a copy if you liked the MV above.

That’s it for this week, thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you in the next one!
