In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we get a single announcement and even some sad news in the form of a disbandment and a graduation. Thankfully, every group ever decided to release MVs for upcoming singles including AKB48, BiS, PREDIANNA, Happy Kuru Kuru, and more.
There’s a lot to enjoy in our 6 highlights of the week!
Many idols are coming over to the dark side, including PREDIANNA. Their latest release is packed full of dark scenes, a rock instrumental, and an incredible amount of boxes. It’s a solid release and one that gives us a look at them trying out a new sound!
Normally idol MVs that have scenes of them going to a city are fairly common. However, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku managed to fit in a touching tribute (not directly, but in a subtle way) to their former member Matsuno Rina who passed away some time ago. It’s one of those releases that just warms up the heart, so make sure to check it out!
BiS are the main group for all things alternative idol, and this time they are back with a new single, new lineup, and a ska punk-ish track that will get you up and moving. It’s catchy and just so good, so make sure to check it out above!
BAND-MAID are an incredibly busy group. It’s surprising to see that they have barely released an album and 2 singles and already are performing all around the world. Thankfully, the time has come for more music!
The release date for AKB48’s latest single is fast approaching, but thankfully fans won’t have to wait any longer to enjoy every track from this release. A short MV has been released for all the tracks, and boy, are they something else. My favorite is the para-para 60’s style Ima Para, how about yours?
Rinahamu is off recruiting members and making a dreamy idol world for us to enjoy. But, what if you need more Yume Kawaii music? Thankfully, Happy Kuru Kuru are here to fill that void with their catchy EDM beats and colorful outfits. It’s packed with confused bystanders, so make sure to check it out above!

Remember former NMB48 member Kishino Rika’s band Over The Top? They recently announced their formation and with it came the inevitable single titled Bokura no Hata, out May 31st.
It doesn’t quite fit in with the traditional stuff we cover (idols and Jpop stuff-ish), but fans of this former idol are sure to appreciate the video. In fact, if you’re a fan of her singing and rock you’re in the perfect place.
The drums and guitar have a sound that’s heavy enough for a rock band, but that somehow fit Rika’s vocals well. In fact, it’s a solid beat and the perfect track to enjoy for those who like J-rock with female vocalists, so make sure to check it out below!
