In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we get a handful of MVs from NECRONOMIDOL, PASSPO, Oomori Seiko, Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da, and Babyraids JAPAN. We also get a new single announcement from Momusu and even some good news for Karin fans.
All that and more in our 7 highlights of the week!
NECRONOMIDOL are dark idols, so naturally a dark MV with a dark story line is in order. Their latest MV has just that showing off a fancy setting, a full story of revenge, and even a giant carrot/potato looking sword. It’s catchy, packed full of guitars, and a must see for fans of the heavier side of idol!
Karin recently lost her voice as a result of a condition, placing her in a tricky situation regarding her future in the group and her health. Thankfully, it seems like her recovery was a success and she is finally able to return to stage. Welcome back Karin!
PASSPO tend to have solid MVs and their latest one is their best yet. Packed full of comic book references and well done visual effects, the members all fight against evil and save the day. All of this to the beat of a catchy rock styled song with a colorful theme. Make sure to watch it!
I’m barely getting into Oomori Seiko but already her singles are getting my attention because of how creative they are. For example, her MV for IDOL SONG which features lyrics made up of catchphrases from several idols. From Momusu’s Sayu to BiSH’s Ayuni, there’s a bit of everything for the most hardcore of idol fans.
Momusu releases are always welcome and while it’s still pretty early we can already expect it to be a memorable single. This will be the last single to feature Kudo and the first to feature Morito Chisaki who transferred in from Country Girls. Full titles are out for this triple a-side release, check them out above!
Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da have had a rough history, but it seems like they’re making a strong comeback with their latest MV. It’s basically a live action adaptation of their debut single MV with the new lineup and it’s by far one of the best I’ve seen. The school setting is nice and the story helps give the song some emotion.
Babyraids are celebrating their 5th anniversary in style with their latest MV. It’s a bit on the slower side for those who are used to their energetic songs, but it’s nice to hear their vocals clearly. Make sure to check out this dark and shiny release above!
- BiSH collaborate with 7-Eleven for an adorably non-punk CM MV
- Aika Hirota is leaving Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku
- AKB48 legends return for the catchy short MV for Anata no Kawari wa Inai
This week we have P.IDL NAGOYA and their MV for Hey! Mr. Afroman!
As the title mentions, this MV is packed full of afros, but fans will be pleased to see that there also idols, basketball players, and other random people shouting at the camera during the song. Add in a story where the members all wear afros and try to rescue a girl from the grasp of an evil butterfly mask lady and you have a good idea of what to expect.
What about the song? The song is laid back but it has a disco tune that is catchy and easy to sing to. Thankfully this means that if you want to wear your own afro and dance along you are easily able to do it.
It’s well worth a look simply because of how fun it is, so make sure to check it out below!
Hey! Mr. Afroman!
That’s it for this week, make sure to stay tuned for the next one!
