In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we had a relatively calm time with only a handful of news to cover. From Perfume’s latest covers to MVs from Electric Ribbon, Pandamic, ONEPIXCEL, Nogizaka46, and more, check out our 6 highlights of the week below!
How come I’ve never heard of Electric Ribbon? This electronic idol group has been around for some time but it’s not until we got to listen to their latest release that we got hooked. In it we get to see the group as they perform in a kitchen and in front of a giant cake. It’s a delight and one that fans and newcomers alike are sure to enjoy.
Smaller and newer idol groups tend to be overshadowed by other bigger groups often. But, with it being relatively calm this week we got a chance to check out Pandamic, a panda themed idol group with a fun and unique rock sound. It’s an angsty and delightful release that’s worth a watch!
ONEPIXCEL have been enjoying a surge of popularity ever since they provided the ending theme song for Dragon Ball Super. Now they’re back and they are ready to show off a relatively cool and mature release that’s sure to impress many. It’s a must watch!
Ogura Yui has been releasing a variety of singles for some time. Her latest MV shows off a fun tennis court themed release that’s sure to make fans smile. Wait, you’re not smiling? Well, check out the MV for her main track which features her blasting fans with smoke. Now that’s quality entertainment.
Nogizaka46 recently revealed that they are going for a summer theme with their latest release. But in a shocking turn of events, we’re not getting bikinis. Instead, we’re getting a fun day out with the members as they enjoy a chill day.
Have you ever wondered what being inside of a web of light feels like? It’s a weird question but one that Perfume seem to have the answer to when they released the covers for their latest single. Are they good? Well, that’s up to you to decide. Check them out above!
This week we have Kamishi Todoroku, Gekijou no Shiku, also known as Shingeki, and their MV for their latest single titled Jiko Tsugoushugi Metamorphose. Out August 8th, the single will be released in 6 editions.
Are you ready for a confusing MV? Well, get ready for Jiko Tsugoushugi Metamorphose.
In it we get to see Shingeki as they combine a variety of styles into one song. Slow rapping? Check. Spoken lines? Check. Electronic idol? Check. A wacky bridge? Check. The list goes on and on. I’m unsure if they knew what kind of song they wanted or if they just mixed in as many half finished songs as they could but it’s a big change when compared to their last MV.
It’s a confusing song, but the visuals are relatively straightforward. We get to see the group as they perform in a warehouse, in a house, and a dungeon. It’s pretty eye catching with every member having a unique look that is sure to appeal to different fans.
The group might have a mouthful of a name but they’re worth a look if you’re into electronic idol groups that go for the incredibly weird. Make sure to check out the MV below!
