In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we have MVs galore with releases from GANG PARADE, X21, NGT48, AKB48, and more. But, we also get some sad news from a member who will be leaving Devil ANTHEM. soon. That and more in our 7 highlights of the week!

News

> Sakura Ebis do summer stuff in the chill MV for Shakunetsu to Ice Cream

Need to remember the good ol’ times of summer, even though it hasn’t ended? Sakura Ebis have what you need with their latest MV. In it we get to see the group as they enjoy some treats and some fun activities at home. It’s the perfect MV to enjoy when you need to relax!

> GANG PARADE take down walls in the MV for CAN’T STOP

Ever wanted to see a group of idols walk into a wall? That’s a weird thing to want to see but hey, GANG PARADE have you covered. In this release we get to see the group as they go for a more pop-forward release. It’s a well done MV that shows off that idol MVs go well with inspirational quotes.

> X21 take the spotlight in the MV for Destiny

X21 are showing off their latest MV in style by having the members perform on stage and on a rooftop. It’s not the most complex of videos but it does a great job of showing off what is perhaps one of the catchiest songs I’ve heard this week. Also, there’s a lot of scenes of them in slow motion which is just perfect.

> MONSTER GIRLFRIEND party it up in the flashy MV for KAIJU NIGHT

Are you ready for a rather cute, electronic idol group? Enter MONSTER GIRLFRIEND, a group who has a name that seems brutal but is actually the complete opposite. They just released their 1st MV and it’s a treat, so make sure to check it out above!

> NGT48 head to Russia in the MV for Sekai no Hito e

There’s a severe lack of NGT48 members visiting other countries, but thankfully that’s about to change. In the main MV for NGT48’s latest single, we get to see as they make the dreams of a fan from Russia come true. We also get to see Russia in all of its glory, making for a pretty sweet and unique look at the country.

> AKB48 play with cubes in the trippy MV for “Suki” no Tane

Remember how we mentioned that all the MVs for AKB48’s latest single were out? It seems like we have one more to enjoy and it’s a treat. Taking place in a land of cubes, we get to see cubes in every single scene. There’s cubes over here. There’s cubes over there. There’s cubes everywhere.

> Devil ANTHEM.’s AI. is graduating from the group

Well this sucks. Devil ANTHEM. are among the best electronic idol groups on the scene and unfortunately it seems like they’re about to lose their smiliest member. Full details about why AI. decided to leave are included in the post above. We’ll miss you AI.!

Encore

This week we have Toricago and their MV for Mori. Out now, the track is part of their 1st album titled i cAn Fly.

In it we get to see scenes of the members as they sing in a bright field. Most of the MV is them singing into the sky as the wind dances around them with a few scenes of them at the beach. Is it simple? Absolutely, but the scenes are all done perfectly, apart from the weird transition near the end which is a bit off.

Despite that, the song is pretty solid, with guitars and drums to go along with the soft vocals from the members. It’s not too harsh, instead going for a rock ballad sound that is well done. In fact, it seems like a song that I’d expect from an idol group that has been around for a while.

Toricago definitely left a good impression on me. Their music is catchy and they have a pretty impressive start to their idol careers. It also helps that one of the members is called Vampire and another is called Karaage.

For now, make sure to check out the MV below to experience them for yourself!
