Kotone Mai To Graduate From Solo Activies, Form A Unit

Kotone Mai Solo Graduation

Kotone Mai has announced that she will be ending her solo career and will instead be creating her own unit.

The date for graduation is set for August 14th and will take place at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM. The members for her own unit have been gathered through an audition she held.

While she might not be as mainstream as the other idols and groups in Japan right now, Mai is well known in the underground scene. Having gathered a large following through her multiple performances around Japan it seems like she had a solid career as a solo idol.

That might be true, it seems like she wants to spread her wings and try out a new frontier and while sad it’s great to see that she will be staying in the music scene.

Best of luck Mai and hopefully we get to hear more about her unit this Fall!

Niji no Conquistador “Alien Girl In New York” MV Released

Niji no Conquistador Alien Girl New York MV

Niji no Conquistador have released the MV for their upcoming Single V titled Alien Girl in New York.

Releasing May 17th, this DVD single will be available in 7 versions: Aka Ban, Daidai Ban, Ki Ban, Midori Ban, Ao Ban, Ai Ban, and Murasaki Ban. If you collect all the versions you will be able to see the complete MV for the single which is 60 minutes long alongside the main MV.

Right off the bat, the title alone should catch your attention (if it didn’t then we’ll assume you’re an alien from another planet with a love for Japanese pop). Regardless, something we can all agree upon is that the several scenes around a brightly lit city in Japan are sure to have you watching over and over again.

The song itself is catchy and laid back, with a nice jazzy beat to complement the scenes. Sure, it might be hard to describe the actual MV in words, but my favorite scene would definitely have to be the intro where all the members pose while we get a scene of an alien idol on the right side of the screen.

Curious about this alien release? Make sure to check out the MV after the break and get your copy since this release is sure to be a unique one!

Utada Hikaru Announces Comeback

Utada Hikaru has announced that she will be ending her hiatus and making her comeback to the music industry.

This was confirmed alongside with the confirmation that two new songs will air on Japanese TV. The 1st titled Hanataba wo Kimi ni will be the theme song for Toto Nee-chan, while the 2nd song is currently untitled but it will be used as the ending theme for NEWS ZERO.

To celebrate staff has launched an interesting project titled NEW-TURN Project. This site provides fans a chance to welcome her back by tying in a campaign with the hashtag “#おかえりHIKKI”.

Every time someone uses the hashtag a cherry blossom will bloom on the main page, and a portion of the proceeds of the campaign will go towards planting cherry blossom trees in areas affected by the recent East Japan earthquake.

The title speaks by itself. If you’re a fan of Japanese music it’s inevitable that you’ve heard songs from Hikaru at some time, so it’s incredible news since we’ll be able to enjoy more of her amazing singing.

What does the future hold in store for her? We’re not sure, but all we know is we’ll be enjoying more of Utada Hikaru’s amazing voice soon!

E-girls “Shukkou-sa ~Sail Out For Someone~” MV Released

E.G. SMILE - E-girls BEST - Cover

E-girls have released the MV from their 1st best album titled Shukkou-sa ~Sail Out For Someone~.

The best of album titled E.G. Smile – E-girls Best –has been out since February 10th and will be available in 5 different versions.

Most MVs showcase the traditional idol formula of “close-ups + dance shots = idol MV”, but thankfully it seems like we get a chance to look at the behind the scenes and the preparation they endure to perform for fans.

The song itself is catchy, with a soft beat that matches the scenes of the girls before concerts, working out, and of course, in concert performing for their fans.

It’s a rare look behind one of Japan’s most talented idol groups so make sure to check out the track list and the MV after the break!

LinQ “Supreme” MV Released

LinQ Supreme Cover Regular
Regular

LinQ has released the MV for their upcoming single titled Supreme.

Releasing March 23rd, this will be their 13th single and will be the theme song for the film Minna Suitouto where the members will appear. This will also be the last single for members Ichinose Miku, Fukase Chisei, and Matsumura Kurumi.

It will be available in 3 different versions: Regular (with a b-side titled Po! Si! Tive!), Limited (with a coupling song titled Aoi Sangoshou), as well as a “Gakkyoku” version (coupling titled Kimi ga Itakara) all with a b-side titled Sweet Dream.

The single itself features a light but catchy EDM sound that is sure to have you humming the melody for hours after listening to it.

Visually, the MV is nicely done with shots of the members on top of a bus on the highway (highway speeds are not something idols are worried about apparently). We also get shots of the members dancing in a field outside of some buildings, as well as some interesting shots of other locations.

Overall this single is amazing! The sound and the visuals are some of the best yet, so it’s well worth a look for fans or those curious about this up and coming idol group.

Check it out after the break!

Haraeki Stage A and Fuwafuwa “Rockstar / Fuwafuwa Sugar Love” MVs Released

Haraeiko Stage A Rockstar Regular Cover
Haraeiko Stage A Regular Edition

Haraeki Stage A and Fuwafuwa have released the MVs for Rockstar and Fuwafuwa Sugar Love.

Releasing April 13th, this single is part of a double a-side release featuring the two groups from the Harajuku Ekimae Parties company. It will be released in 29 types (yes, 29 different types) with 4 main versions alongside 25 other solo versions.

Cooperations between two groups in the same company is rare, but it’s a nice way for fans to check out different sounds and types of groups that they normally wouldn’t see.

Thankfully we get to enjoy just that with this single, and it’s definitely one to check out. Each MV has their own style and feel, from Fuwafuwa’s idol look to the more rock inspired look for Haraeki Stage A.

Personally, I’m a fan of Fuwafuwa a bit more since it has a more traditional upbeat idol sound, but Haraeki Stage A also have a strong sound for fans to enjoy.

Make sure to check them out and get a copy of one the many types!
