AKB48’s Wakana Natori Announces Graduation

Wakana Natori

AKB48’s Wakana Natori announced that she will be graduating from the group.

This was announced at their recent event at the AKB48 Theater. According to her, she stated that she has decided to expand her horizon and experience new things after being an idol.

Members leaving the group are a common occurrence, but that doesn’t make it any less sad since it means fans will no longer get to see them perform. From what she mentioned it makes sense that she decided to leave, especially since most girls who join idol groups find it’s not exactly what they want.

Best of luck Wakana Natori!

The graduation date hasn’t been announced, but it should be announced soon.

AKB48’s Minami Minegishi To Star In “Joshikou”

Minegishi Minami Joshikou

AKB48’s Minami Minegishi will star in the murder mystery film titled Joshikou.

The story involves a group of 6 women holding a high school reunion in a high school that has been closed for 7 years. It slowly becomes more mysterious with the death of someone in the classroom. Amidst the tension, they receive a text from a girl, Natsumi Shirakawa who died 7 years ago.

It seems like an interesting movie so fans who love a good scare are encouraged to check out the movie when it releases on Spring 2016.

AKB48 To Perform In The Philippines

AKB48 Team 8

AKB48 have announced that they will be performing in Manila, Philippines.

Team 8 will be a special guest at the Cool Japan Festival, marking the first performance for the group in the country.

A sister group was announced to be forming in Manila by Yasushi Akimoto named MNL48, so it’s not surprising to see that they are pushing to promote the group and get everyone familiar with their music before the group’s theater is built in 2017.

Of course, the main news of AKB48 performing in the Philippines is the most exciting since fans of the area can enjoy some songs without having to go to Japan.

More information will be revealed soon, but so far it seems like an amazing time to be an AKB48 fan!

The event will take place in November.

AKB48 Announce 42nd Single, Last Single For Takahashi Minami

AKB48

AKB48 have announced their 42nd single.

This will be the last single to feature Takahashi Minami, who will be graduating on the 10 year anniversary of the group a day before the release of the single.

Takahashi Minami

New singles are perfect since it means more content for fans and hot off the heels of their recent release Halloween Night we get a new release that is sure to please everyone. No other details are known apart from the date so we don’t have much to go off on.

As for this being Takahashi’s last single with the group, this is a sad occasion since she has been with the group since it first started and has become a regular face in releases. Personally, she was my favorite from the group so it will be a bit sad to see her leave but this single is the perfect opportunity for her to show off her vocal skills one more time as part of AKB48.

The release date is set for December 9, with Minami graduating on December 8.

AKB48 | “Halloween Night” Review

AKB48 Halloween Night 412

Not many could have imagined how powerful AKB48 could become, but it seems like they have done an amazing job so far. To this day, they hold multiple records for millions of records sold, boast a massive amount of members spread throughout different groups, and so much more.

I do have to admit that I’m not that familiar with the group, having been a Hello! Project fan for most of my life. Recently though, I have started to spread out to more groups and this group was at the top of my list. What was I missing? What are their songs like? Thankfully I got a perfect opportunity to answer those questions with their single Halloween Night being released recently.

What do I think of it?

AKB48 Announce Best-Of Album

AKB48 Halloween Night

AKB48 have announced the release of a currently untitled all-time, best-of album.

The release is to commemorate the 10th anniversary since their formation. It was announced on September 6 during their handshake event for their recent release Halloween Night. There will be three types:

  • Type A – 27 singles that topped Oricon’s Weekly ranking
  • Type B – Two discs containing 22 million-selling singles
  • Single Complete Edition with 42 songs spanning releases from their indies era with a DVD featuring special footage

It will also feature 10 new songs, with each release containing different new songs. The DVD will apparently contain a “virtual handshake footage” titled AKB48 Group Member Air Handshake Event 2015 where you can enjoy virtual handshakes with over 300 members.

It’s not uncommon to see best of albums being released for groups, but it’s certainly surprising to see that they decided to give every version a different amount of new songs. No doubt it will entice many to buy up all of the versions, so it will be fun to see just how well it will turn out.

The album will be released November 4.
