Shuukan Idol – Chill Week Edition (November 5 – 11)

empire idol

In this week’s Shuukan Idol we have a rather calm week with not much going apart from a handful of MV releases from groups such as Niji no Conquistador, Devil ANTHEM. and BiSH. But, we also have a new lineup for a colorful idolcore group and even a surprise transfer for a fan-favorite group.

That and more in our 6 highlights of the week!

News

> SKIRMISH Chill In The City For Their Debut MV Titled Toroimerai

New idol groups are always welcome, and it seems like a group called SKIRMISH are setting the bar high with their debut MV. We don’t get flashy scenes of them performing, but we do get to enjoy some relaxing beats of them singing from the streets to a rock-ish ballad.

> Niji no Conquistador Reboot A Classic In The Upbeat MV For Yarukkyanai! 2018

Nijicon are just about to release their Best Of album and to celebrate they asked fans to vote on their favorite songs. Well, it seems like the fans have spoken and we get to enjoy a reboot for a classic packed full of adorable poses and an awkwardly long scene of Nagi smiling and multiplying in front of our eyes. It’s an adorable mess, so make sure to enjoy it above!

> Devil ANTHEM. Pose At Night In The Chill MV For Etto Neremishii

Devil ANTHEM. dominate the electronic idol scene (apart from a certain trio we all know), and to show off their new member AKIRA. they have just released the MV for their latest single. It’s a chill reminder that Devil ANTHEM. might have gone through many changes but they still have what it takes to make fans bust a move.

> Kaqriyo Terror Architect’s Kotetsu Is Moving To Yukueshirezu Tsurezure

Put this one under the “wat.” category. Kaqriyo Terror Architect have been a pretty stable group for the most part, having welcomed two new members to their lineup just a few months ago. Well, it seems like one of the founding members is making the leap to another group. Full details are available above!

> Check Out The New Candye♡Syrup Lineup

The fact that the original Candye♡Syrup lineup had to graduate is something that I will never understand. They were all incredible and managed to set the idolcore standards as high as possible. But, it seems like the baton has been given to the next generation and while we have no idea how they sound, I have to admit that they look pretty cool so far.

> BiSH Go Monochrome In The Epic MV For stereo future

BiSH are amazing. Sure, they might be as edgy as a fluffy bunny nowadays but they continue to release some decent singles packed full of guitars, AiNA vocals, and epic themes thanks to their major label status. Their latest MV is no joke, packing in a blindfolded orchestra and monochrome scenes that fans are sure to love.

Encore

This week we have Junjou no Afilia and the MV for their 3rd single titled I WANT TO GROW. Out November 27th, the single will be the ending theme for the anime Ore ga Sukina no wa Imouto Dakedo Imouto Janai.

Unsettling MVs are always a treat and this one packs in scenes of the members as they pose and do weird things in an abandoned school.

We get scenes of them standing in pentagrams, laying on the ground, and beating up grass with a bat. Need more? Well, how about scenes of them as they suddenly eat cake by the handful, push a mannequin, and run through some old machinery? Yep, it’s all unsettling in the best kind of way.

Surprisingly, the song is among the most off putting parts of the release because it has a modern sound with a catchy, danceable beat that anyone can get into. It’s the contrast between the visuals and the song that make this an off putting, yet delightful release.
