SKE48’s Takayanagi Akane Undergoes Vocal Cord Nodule Surgery

SKE48 Takayanagi Akane

SKE48 member Takayanagi Akane announced that she had undergone surgery to remove vocal cord nodules.

For those who might know what they are, nodules are basically growths on the vocal cord that are benign (meaning they aren’t harmful).

According to her, the nodules developed about a year ago and were causing shortness of breath alongside a hoarse voice. The surgery took place April 21st.

Idols depend on their voices so it’s not surprising to see that problems might happen from time to time. Thankfully, the surgery was a success and she is able to talk, but it seems like it might take time until she is fully recovered.

Regardless, we’re looking forward to seeing her back on stage ready to sing soon!

SKE48’s Kato Rumi To Graduate

SKE48 Team E Kato Rumi

SKE48 has announced that Team E’s Kato Rumi will be graduating.

The announcement was done at their recent performance at SKE48 Theater. According to her, it was painful to part ways with fans and members of the group, but she has decided to walk a new path. She will remain in the entertainment business.

No final date has been announced for her graduation, but regardless, it’s one of those bitter and sweet moments. Sweet because she will remain in the entertainment business for fans to support and bitter since she will no longer be able to perform as part of SKE48.

Regardless, best of luck Kato Rumi!

SKE48 “Tabi no Tochuu” MV Released

SKE48 Tabi no Tochuu MV

SKE48 has released the MV for Miyazawa Sae’s graduation song titled Tabi no Tochuu.

The track is part of SKE48’s 19th single titled Chicken LINE which will be released on March 30th. The MVs for the rest of the single have been released previously.

Packed full of members of Team K, the song is slow and matches the feeling that many fans will have as they see Miyazawa leave. I generally don’t like ballads but the fact that she got to shine and show off her vocals was definitely a reason why this is the perfect release for her.

While Miyazawa Sae’s graduation might be a sad parting point for the group, I am happy to see that she got a solid song full of memories for fans who have followed her through her time as a member.

Make sure to check it out and get a copy of the single since the release is fast approaching!

SKE48’s Miyamae Ami Announces Graduation, Agency Transfer

SKE48 Miyamae Ami

SKE48 have announced that Miyamae Ami will be graduating from the group. Alongside that, she will be transferring agencies to San Office.

Announced at their recent SKE48 performance, her move is a result of her wanting to pursue a career as an actress.

It’s a sad occasion when an idol graduates from the group, but it’s interesting when the move is shortly followed by an agency transfer. Of course, it’s a good sign that she is serious with her dreams and ambitions so that should come as a relief for many.

Best of luck Miyamae Ami!

SKE48 “Chicken LINE” MV Released

SKE48 Chicken LINE MV

SKE48 have released an MV preview for the main song from the single Chicken LINE.

Releasing March 30th, we have already seen the other MV previews for the other tracks from the singles released a while ago.

What kind of beat comes to mind when you see a dark dystopia full of idols and action?

Exactly, Flamenco-inspired music with trumpets and a catchy beat.

Full of catchy beats with a Latin touch, it makes for an amazing song that is so catchy when combined with the talented voices of SKE48. The voices are a nice match since they have a calm sound that seems to melt into the beat.

Unfortunately, the MV itself doesn’t seem to match much with the song, instead going for a look that would feel right at home at a Batman movie or even a dark industrial anime (the intro suggests that before going full trumpet).

Despite the visual throw off, I am loving the song since it has a nice beat that is sure to have you nodding your head to the beat.

Well worth a look, so make sure to check it out after the break!

SKE48 “Chicken LINE” MV Previews Released

SKE48 Kanojo ga Iru MV

SKE48 have released previews for their 19th single titled Chicken LINE.

There were three MV previews released today for this single that will be releasing March 30th. As for the single itself, there will 4 Regular versions, 4 Limited editions, PriPara version, and a mu-mo exclusive theater version.

The previews for the songs are all for for the different edition exclusives, but the main tracklist will feature the b-side titled Houenkyou no Nai Tenmondai. Type D will feature a separate track in honor of Miyazawa Sae’s graduation titled Tabi no Tochuu.

On to the previews!

The 1st preview featuring Team S and Type-A exclusive is titled Kanojo ga Iru and in it we see the girls at an amusement park where they dance in front of the rides with a nice filter on the shot to give it a sunset look.

It could be a commercial for an amusement park, but instead we get to see the members having fun and enjoying the day while singing a somewhat “too” calm song. It does have its ups but overall I wasn’t that impressed with this one.

Up next, we have Team KII and their Type-B exclusive song Kiss Position and here we see more of a traditional idol sound with the members smiling and dancing at the camera while doing classic cute poses.

The tone of the song is upbeat, catchy, and well suiting of the members and it goes well with the cafe setting that we get to see. Of course we don’t get to see much since it’s short but there is a small story in the MV with Obata Yuna and Ego Yuna as famous celebrities being recognized at a cafe (after they stare at a waiter).

Great song, and even better MV since it has a cute theme with a colorful dance shot as well as a simple, but fun story included.

Finally, we have Team E and their Type C song Is that your secret? and this one is the interesting one out of the bunch. Instead of a happy go lucky setting we see the members chase down a paparazzi after he takes pictures of the members.

The song itself is calm tone to it and it matches the motif of the video nicely since it has a somewhat unsettling tone. Sure, the song might not be good but I’ll definitely check out the MV since it has a unique theme with a Fight Club style ring of idols.

Solid releases from SKE48 today, so check out the MVs after the break and let us know which one you prefer the most!

SKE48 “Gonna Jump” MV Released

SKE48 Gonna Jump MV

The MV for SKE48’s Gonna Jump has been released.

Part of the upcoming AKB48 single titled Kimi wa Melody releasing on March 9th, this MV is part of the big drop of MVs from the ’48 groups and certainly the most impressing so far.

The song features wotagei coupled with a rock sound that is sure to have you jumping. The mix of fans cheering while the girls sing is a nice touch, and one that will have you wishing you were part of the crowd.

While the quality of the MV might suffer a bit thanks to all of the flashing lights, I am loving how it turned out since it has a nice sound that I will definitely be making part of my collection once it’s released.

Well worth a look for those who are fans of the rock side of the idol spectrum!
