In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we have a relatively quiet week with a handful of MVs from Yurumerumo!, Tokyo Girls’ Style, =LOVE, and PassCode. Add in an album announcement from BRATS and a disbandment from PASSPO☆ and you have our 6 highlights of the week!
News
> Yurumerumo! x DOTAMA rap the afternoon away in Freestyle Zenbu
Yurumerumo! are not only good at singing about sins, they’re good at rapping as well. Need some convincing? Well, you’re in luck. They’ve just released the entertaining MV for Freestyle Zenbu which features some rapping, a random man, and a lot of chill scenery. If you need to relax, this is the song to listen to.
> Tokyo Girls’ Style walk through a field in kiss wa Agenai
Tokyo Girls’ Style has a more mature sound, so naturally their MVs tend to lean a bit more into the artistic side. Enter kiss wa Agenai, an MV with scenes of the members dancing in a field, sitting in dark rooms while wearing fancy dresses, and scenes of them being cool looking. The song might be a bit of a hit or miss for many, but it’s well worth a look.
PASSPO☆ have entertained fans since 2009 with their heavier rock sound and an adorable flight attendant theme. Sadly, it seems like the group who once declared they would perform until they were grandmas have decided to call it quits just 9 years later. The flight is about to land, strap on your seat belts, …. add your airline pun here. Thank you PASSPO☆ for everything!
> =LOVE turn into superheroes for Kiara, Tasuke ni Kitazo
What do you get when you combine a group of idols with a superhero theme? You get the latest =LOVE MV packed full of special effects and a single camera shot. It’s a simple release but one that’s sure to get fans hyped for =LOVE’s latest single.
> BRATS Announce their 1st full album
After leaving LADYBABY due to a throat condition, Kuromiya Rei returned to BRATS where her throat is completely fine and started releasing music. Now the time has come for the next step and thankfully an album is in the horizon. Full details are available in the post above!
> PassCode rock out with a band in Ray
What do you get when you combine the brutal vocals of Yuna with some mild electronic and violins? A pretty awesome PassCode release of course, packed full of simple visuals but a song that fans are sure to adore. Unfortunately, the MV on Youtube is region restricted, but PassCode provided a link on Facebook for everyone to enjoy!
Encore
This week we have P.IDL and their MV for Mirai Stage.
What comes to mind when you think of old fashioned idol releases? An upbeat ballad is a given, but what about some rooftop dance shots, close-up shots, and scenes of a random group of kids playing sports? That last one is a bit out there but P.IDL’s latest MV has all of that and more.
First off, the visuals. Most of the MV is made up of scenes of P.IDL dancing on a windy rooftop. But, there are a variety of scenes featuring a group of kids playing soccer and basketball. There’s a good reason for that: it’s a support song for a variety of schools that offer sports programs while also being a 4th anniversary song for P.IDL, which is pretty awesome.
As for the song, it’s a typical idol release. Upbeat ballad, harmony vocals, and a general uplifting sound of purity that can only come from the idol world. Yes, it’s a bit generic at times but the sound will be pretty catchy for many.
Make sure to check out this windy rooftop release below!
