In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we have a handful of MVs from Kamiyado, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, GANG PARADE, and Up Up Girls (Pro Wres). Add in a sudden departure from BiS and a new audition for Momusu and you have our 7 highlights of the week!
News
> Kamiyado play with tables in the lighthearted MV for CONVERSATION FANCY
Sometimes you need something lighthearted to start/end the week, and nothing fits that more than Kamiyado’s latest MV. Sit back and relax as you enjoy a ton of tables flying by the screen, with some cute idols thrown in for good measure. Add in some random outfit changes from time to time and you have a delightfully fun MV.
> Kyary Pamyu Pamyu does weird, colorful stuff in the MV for Oto no Kuni
Nothing makes sense in the world of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, but it’s fun to see what she is up to when she releases an MV. Thankfully, we just got a new one recently and it’s definitely a colorful one. Prepare your eyes for another feast of color packed full of weird outfits!
> Perfume to perform at Coachella Music Festival
While my musical tastes have never been too mainstream, even I know that Coachella is a pretty big deal for artists. Well, it seems like Perfume are making their way to California to be part of this huge musical festival. It’s an impressive feat and one that fans in the area should definitely take note of!
> GANG PARADE get wound up in the game-filled MV for LAST
GANG PARADE have been releasing artistic MVs for quite some time, with their latest MV being quite the treat. In it we get to see the members as they have giant wind up keys in their backs. Add in a random American football player and you have yourself a cryptic and rather impressive way to wrap up the latest GANG PARADE MV.
> Up Up Girls (Pro Wres) upper chop their way to victory in the MV for Upper Chop!
The market for wrestling idols is strangely empty, apart from Deadlift Lolita. Well, the time has come for Up Up Girls (Pro Wres) to show off their moves with their first MV. In it we get to see the group as they do all kinds of wrestling stuff, but mainly upper chops. If you’re into upper chops, this is your MV. Also, that is a weird thing to be into.
> Morning Musume ’19 announce LOVE Audition
Morning Musume is a group of constantly changing members, whether we like it or not. With the departure of Ogata Haruna and Iikubo Haruna, it seems like the perfect time to look for the newest generation. Will we get another standout member like Oda Sakura? Will we get more adorable members like Yokoyama Reina? Stay tuned for more updates about this!
> BiS member Nel Nehru leaves the group
BiS members are no strangers to mental exhaustion, with former member Momoland leaving the group for that exact reason back in April. Well, it seems like there’s another member leaving the group: Nel Nehru. Here’s hoping this departure changes the group in some way so that Watanabe treats the members better.
Encore
This week we have Kolokol and their MV for bookmark. Out now, the track is available digitally.
Kolokol are a relatively new idol rock group, and they seem incredibly promising.
So, any debut MV has to have an eye catching theme and the one that Kolokol used shows off the members as they read books in a library and go through a wooded area. These two areas seem a bit boring at a glance, but the warm lighting and the camera work (especially near the end of the MV) make this release truly a stellar release.
But, the song is what makes an idol group special and for those of you who were expecting heavy rock music, you’ll be pretty disappointed. Instead of the harsh guitars we’re used to from other idol rock groups we get a relatively calm rock experience, with the drums and bass being the highlights. The vocals from the members are a tad shaky at times (they’re a new group after all) but it works perfectly fine for the sound.
It’s a fresh new idol group that has a ton of potential, so make sure to stay tuned for any new updates from them. For now, check out their MV below and give them a like/follow to show some support!
