danbara ruru inaba manaka

In this week’s Shuukan Idol, we have a variety of MVs from Yukueshirezu Tsurezure, avandoned, lyrical school, and more. Add in a ton of BABYMETAL news, a best of album from Perfume and you’ll have our 7 highlights of the week!

> BiSH’s Hashiyasume Atsuko has the best music in the party-packed MV for a la mode

Atsuko is one of those members in BiSH who rarely get the spotlight that AiNA or AYUNi D do, but that’s about to change. In a surprise twist, we got a solo debut MV packed full of muscular men, BiSH members as back dancers, and a lot of scenes full of everyone partying. It’s a must see! Mostly because the song is incredibly catchy.

> Yukueshirezu Tsurezure rock out during a tragic story in the MV for ssixth

Tsurezure have just released their latest MV and it’s an interesting one. In it, we get to see Tsurezure sing to a calm song before a tragic story starts unfolding before our eyes. It might be a bit too intense for some, but somehow the girls make the song come to life.

> BABYMETAL announce new album, new song, new tour, and new everything

BABYMETAL have unleashed a wave of announcements this week. In a nutshell we got a new album announcement, a new digital single, a new Japanese tour, a new European tour, and 3 supporting dancers one of which is former Momusu member Sayashi Riho. Needless to say, this is an intense week for BABYMETAL fans!

> ANGERME’s Katsuta Rina announces her graduation

ANGERME fans are recovering from the loss of Wada Ayaka, but it seems like the graduations are not done yet. In the latest departure, we got the news that Katsuta Rina would be leaving the group to pursue her career in fashion. Best of luck Rina!

> avandoned have a fun day out and about in the MV for Margaret

avandoned have been through a lot, but with a new lineup consisting of 5 new members it seems like they’re ready for anything. So, do we get the classic weird MVs? Not exactly. In fact, we got a pretty relaxing day out as the members sing to a chill tune. Recommended if you want something calm!

> Perfume announce best-of album, titled “Perfume The Best: P Cubed

Perfume have a vast amount of songs that have been released. Well, it seems like they have hand-picked some of their best for fans who want to have it all in one place. Yes, this is their 3rd best of album, but this was released as a way of celebrating their 15th major debut so I’ll let it slide.

> lyrical school go back to the past in the retro movie inspired MV for LAST DANCE

Nostalgia is pretty big nowadays, so why not combine that with idol music? lyrical school are taking inspiration from that by packing an MV to the brim with scenes from old movies. Back To The Future, Mission Impossible, and more are included, so give it a watch!

Notable mentions

This week we have Zettai Chokyuu Joshi! Playballs and their MV for their 9th single titled Ano Taiyou.

It’s hard to believe it but an idol group with a baseball theme is still going strong to this day and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, they’re even releasing an all new single where they dance in inches of water to an energetic punk/ska song.

Sounds dangerous? No need to worry, they’re professionals.

It’s a unique MV that works well to show off the many scenes that take place in a school. The main scene has them dancing in ankle-deep water in a school pool while a band plays some punk/ska in the background. But, there’s a bit of variety as members sing from the windows, playfully get wet, and other idol fun.

Surprisingly, the members manage to not fall in the not-that-full pool as they dance energetically to the fast-paced song. It’s a delightful treat for those who like energetic idol music, especially because it starts off slow and builds up from there.

Basically, it’s an incredible release and one that everyone must check out!
